Main Beach Walkers Celebrate - 2nd Lap of Queenlsand

Main Beach Walkers are celebrating finishing their 2nd Lap of Queensland in their Walk Around Qld Challenge.

Over 50 guests and staff at the Main Beach Tourist Park have over the last 3 months taken up the challenge and been wearing pedometers and counting their steps as part of a park wide activity to see how many times the park can walk around Qld.   This week the park walked back to the Gold Coast for the 2nd time.

The activity involved participants being issued with a pedemoter provided by Queensland Health, and recording the number of steps walked each day.  Each week the number of steps walked were tallied and the Walk Around Queenlsand Board updated to track the park's progress.   Guests also had the opportunity to win weekly prizes and attend a celebration lunch for each lap completed as well as participate in a weekly walking group led by Park Manager, Paul.

The activity has been so popular that even though we have decided to stop at 2 laps we will be allowing guests to keep pedometers for another month till the end of September so guests can use the pedometers and continue recording their steps for their own interest.

Guests have been amazed at how much the activity did actually increase their activity.
