Main Beach Walkers Celebrate - 2nd Lap of Queenlsand

Main Beach Walkers are celebrating finishing their 2nd Lap of Queensland in their Walk Around Qld Challenge.

Over 50 guests and staff at the Main Beach Tourist Park have over the last 3 months taken up the challenge and been wearing pedometers and counting their steps as part of a park wide activity to see how many times the park can walk around Qld.   This week the park walked back to the Gold Coast for the 2nd time.

Main Beach Guests - Cruise the Brisbane River

Fifty Main Beach Winter Guests recently enjoyed a fantastic bus trip to Brisbane, where everyone thoroughly enjoyed a cruise on the Brisbane River on the Kookaburra Queen Paddlewheeler.

Guests dined on a buffet lunch whilst enjoying a gentle cruise down the river whilst listening to some fascinating commentary and music.

The trip also included time at either South Bank or the Brisbane CBD.   Park Manager Paul was again pleased to be the groups driver and host.

 

Main Beach - Sausage and Salad Lunch for Leukaemia

Main Beach Park Managers Kim and Paul have been blown away by the generosity of park guests over the last 2 weeks.

The park has raised over $1500 in the last 2 weeks, on the 6th August almost $600 was raised for the Cancer Council at a Biggest Morning Tea held on site and on the 16th August the park raised almost $1,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation at our Sausage and Salad Lunch.

Main Beach Annual Recipe Tasting Lunch

Main Beach's Annual Recipe Tasting Lunch was held on Friday 13th August.

Over 40 guests attended the event each bringing along a dish of their favourite recipe to share - resulting in a 2 course lunch with a difference.

The feast included a choice of 30 different dishes including 7 different starters, 16 different main dishes and 7 different desserts.

Main Beach - 2010 Winter Guest Recipe Cookbook

Main Beach guests have again outdone themselves this year contributing many family favourite recipes to this years Recipe Cookbook.

The recipe book is an annual activity for guests - each guest who contributes a recipe receives a book as a thank you for contributing to the book, books can also be purchased for $8 each.

Main Beach Guests Walking down the Queenlsand Coast

Main Beach guests have continued walking this week and have turned in an excellent week with 1.5 million steps walked in our Walk Around Queensland challenge, which is a great result given 2 days where lost due to rain interupting the walkers.

We are now heading down the Queenland Coast - with over 68% of our second lap down we are aiming to complete our second lap in a couple of weeks.

 

 

Main Beach - Biggest Morning Tea Fundraiser

Main Beach Guests recently stepped out for a great morning and had a fantastic time raising money for the Cancer Council.

A Morning Tea was held, where over 100 guests enjoyed a lovely morning.  Guests brought along a plate of goodies to share and one of our lovely guests Trevor Rattley generously donated his time to entertain the crowd with live music. 

August Activities at Main Beach

Main Beach Guests will be kept busy again this month with in park activities.

Each week we will have our regular activities of Tuesday Craft Mornings and Wednesday Walking Activities - Walk In to register Steps walked in the Walk Around QLD Challenge and the weekly Park Walking Group.

In addition we will host the following major activities:

  • Pancake Breakfasts 9th and 23rd August
  • Major Fundraisers

Barefoot Bowls Rocks at Main Beach

Main Beach Guests stepped out this week for the Annual Barefoot Bowls Cup at the Southport Bowls club.

Main Beach Walkers Stride Through Mount Isa

Main Beach Guests strided through Mount Isa this week on their 2nd lap of Queensland, as we continue the Walk Around Queensland which has many guests out walking around our fabuolous local area.

Excellent progress has been with the number steps walked for this week totalling 1.7 million steps, which means we have walked over 2800km on our 2nd lap already.
