Main Beach guests have enjoyed another bus trip - this time the destination was Brisbane where guests enjoyed a visit to Mount Cootha inlcuding Morning Tea before cruising the Brisbane River on the Kookaburra Queen Paddle Wheeler. A walk around South Bank before heading back to the park topped off a great day for all.
This week marked a major milestone for this year's winter guest with the park completing this year's Physical Activity Challenge which was to as a collective group Walk/Ride/Swim around Australia via Highway 1.
Our Annual Winter Guest Recipe Cookbook was launched last week at our Annual Recipe Tasting Lunch. The cookbook has over 80 fantastic recipes which our guests have contributed throughout the year - the best thing about the recipes are that they are guest favourites making this a recipe book packed with recipes which have been well tested.
In addition to recipes ranging from starters, salads and side dishes to hearty main meals and sensational desserts the book also has many photo's of the many activities guests have enjoyed this year.
Main Beach Tourist Park's Annual Lunch for Leukaemia has raised over $1,900 for the Leukaemia Foundation. Guests feasted on Sausages and Salads and some fantastic desserts. Thanks to the support of local businesses such as Southport Yacht Club, Southport Surf Lifesaving Club, Brisbane River Cruises, The Prawn King and some generous guests our raffles and money boards were very successful. The awesome thing about our Annual Lunch for Leukaemia is that it is entirely self catered with park guests generously volunteering to set up, prepare, cook and pack up from the eve
This years annual Barefoot Bowls Championships was a fabulous afternoon of fun rivalry. A record 18 teams (72 Guests) competed for the honour of being this year's Main Beach Tourist Park Barefoot Bowls Champions - after 2 hours of competition we had a clear winner but our Runners Up title required a bowl off to determine the winner. SBT's (Noel, Jewel, Stephen and Barbara) took out the winners crown for the second year in a row becoming our first back to back champions. After a very close bowl off the Ocean Street Kids (Richard, Marilyn, Ray and Ann) too out the runners up
