Stradbroke Island
Welcome to South Stradbroke Island Campgrounds
Get away from it all with a peaceful, relaxing South Stradbroke Island Camping Holiday...
If you want to escape the fast pace of everyday life and totally relax amongst natural, unspoilt beauty, camping on South Stradbroke Island is the perfect retreat.
A superb natural reserve, South Stradbroke Island offers calm inner waterways on one side, virtually untouched native bushland in the centre, and on the other side, 22kms of pristine surf beach with hardly a soul in sight. The surf beach offers spectacular views of the beautiful Gold Coast, and you can catch glimpses of the majestic humpback whales migrating north to breed during whale watching season, which starts in June and runs through to late October. Please help us to protect the wildlife found naturally in this pristine area by not bringing your dogs or generators onto the island. Dogs are prohibited within the Conservation Park (managed by Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services) and all four of the Council managed campgrounds.
Stradbroke Island Camping Holiday Activities and Attractions
South Stradbroke Island is ideally located to take advantage of a variety of water sports. Action-seekers can enjoy surfing, sea kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, parasailing, snorkelling, kite-surfing, beach and boat fishing, sailing and jetskiing.
Extra special experiences to be had on your South Stradbroke Island camping adventure include spotting the rare Golden Wallaby only found in this area, and watching the sun rise over the water in the east and set over the water in the west - one of the few places you can see this on the east coast of Australia!
