Celebrating Big Wins at the Tourism Awards

Big wins, big smiles! Our Gold Coast Tourist Parks family brought home two incredible wins at the 2025 Queensland Tourism Awards – Silver for Tallebudgera Creek Tourist Park and Bronze for Broadwater Tourist Park in the Caravan and Holiday Parks category.

These awards celebrate the hard work and passion behind creating memorable holiday experiences for our guests. From major upgrades to community-driven programs, here’s a look at the initiatives that made us shine.

Keeping Guests Happy During Park Upgrades

Team Tally faced a major challenge – maintaining an relaxing holiday environment while the park underwent significant infrastructure upgrades. The upgrades included:

  • replacement of underground services including power and water supply and sewage/stormwater drainage
  • new street lighting, energy-efficient power heads, resurfaced roads and a new dump point
  • cabin upgrades including new decks and balustrades, solar hot-water systems, interior and exterior painting and electrical improvements.

The team made communication a top priority throughout these works. They set up a dedicated inbox for guest questions, kept responses timely and helpful, and personally reached out to every affected booking. Guests were offered flexible options like site relocations or alternative dates, and the team checked in during stays to ensure everything was smooth and stress-free.

Kiosk Refresh

Tallebudgera Creek increased their kiosk offerings, allowing fresh food prep onsite alongside baked treats from local favourite, Fuel Bakery. The team expanded the food and beverage range, added branded merchandise and essentials and extended hours to keep guests happy and stocked on supplies!

Seamless Check-in Experience

To make arrivals stress-free, Tallebudgera Creek introduced Pre Check-In and Express Arrival. Guests who complete their check-in documentation early get their boom gate code at 11am on arrival day, so they can head straight to their site. Once settled, they're invited to reception to meet the team and plan their stay – maintaining a warm welcome without post-travel pressure.

Strengthening Guest Connections

Team Tally reframed their guest services as an active relationship rather than a series of transactions. Mid-stay check-in emails and leadership-led activities engage guests in real time and creating genuine connection. Fishing with Tim, Happy Hour with Park Managers and school holidays hosted by Scott are just a few examples of how our leadership team gets involved.

Cultural Partnerships - Educating Through Experience

Tallebudgera Creek partnered with two local organisations – Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre and Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary – to deliver free, interactive programs that connect guests with the cultural and environmental significance of the region. Jellurgal's guided walks honour the Traditional Custodians and deepen cultural understanding, while on-site school holiday workshops from Currumbin cover Indigenous knowledge, wildlife protection, and sustainable living through hands-on activities.

Team Tally are passionate about educating visitors about the land's traditional and environmental significance. Offering these activities at no cost ensures accessibility and engagement across a wide demographic.

Broadwater Tourist Park - Bronze Winner

New Family Play Zone

The team transformed an underused corner of the recreation room into a bright, colourful, all-weather Family Play Zone – a year-round haven for little adventurers and a sanity-saver for parents. The initiative was sparked by guest feedback highlighting a need for more activities for young children, especially during wet weather.

Championing Public Transport

Broadwater have embraced the Gold Coast's 50-cent fares and become public transport champions – showing guests how easy, affordable and eco-friendly it is to explore the coast without a car. Guests can grab Go Cards or Go Explore Cards right at the park and hop on the bus or light rail for unlimited travel at just $1.50 a day. No parking stress, no hassle – just more freedom and fun!

Broadwater Blood Buddies Program

In June 2025, Broadwater partnered with Southport Blood Donor Centre to launch a joint guest and staff initiative. Through this program, staff are given paid time off to donate, while guests are provided with transport assistance and encouraged to become regular donors. This not only supports lifesaving healthcare needs in the local community but also fosters a culture of giving and social responsibility among both staff and guests.

Free Fitness Wednesdays

Every Wednesday, Broadwater teams up with Agility Fit to offer free Mature Fit class in the Broadwater Parklands. This not only provides guests with a valuable health and wellbeing activity but also directly supports a local business, keeping revenue within the community and strengthening small business sustainability.

Supporting the Leukaemia Foundation through Containers for Change

Broadwater combined their passionate fundraising efforts with the Containers for Change program to achieve record donation numbers. Containers recycled in the park almost doubled in the last financial year, with a total of 133,691 containers collected – diverting 12.4 tonnes of waste from landfill. Beyond environmental impact, the program generated $10,472 in donations to the Leukaemia Foundation, a 90% increase from last financial year. These efforts earned Gold Coast Tourist Parks a finalist spot at the 2024 Change Maker Awards, further reinforcing our leadership in environmentally sustainable practices.

These highlights are just a glimpse of the incredible work behind our Silver and Bronze wins. Huge congratulations to both teams and to Burleigh Beach Tourist Park for making the finalist list!

Most importantly, thank you to our amazing guests. Your stays, reviews and stories inspire everything we do and helped us achieve these awards.

Whether you’re a regular or planning your first visit, we can’t wait to share these experiences with you on your next Gold Coast getaway.
